When another pair of brothers (Kalle Perlmutter, Klaus Tange) join the murderous smuggling game, the viewer can see a little more clearly, but what exactly happened that night when Klaus Hansen was torn from his sleep by gunshots – it’s the first scene of the film – is only revealed after about an hour. This is the ideal basis for the thriller’s final third, in which the good guys are in mortal danger. A ship, a house, the night, plus a grim tit-for-tat finale with an ironic tip and ‘weather light’ on the horizon and a striking rescue that is even convincing in terms of gender politics. In between, the story also has harmonious drama elements: the viewer learns about Hansen’s tragic past, and the present also holds further blows of fate in store for him. In this case, the only thing that helps is shouting at the sea.
