“Halloween – This childhood photo was taken in 1980 – Some years before Halloween became an American event tradition here in Europe as we know it today – some years before my birthday was pimped with pumpkins, spiders and skeletons – and some years before Halloween really owned October 31 and turned me into Birthday Boy with little paper hat on curly head when everybody else was tricking and treating as Freddy Krueger or Chucky 🙂 “ – Peter Pilegaard

NOURI CHAMARI * underwater!

Dear Nouri, we are delighted that you are sharing this wonderful insight with us on your birthday ... © Ala Benhamed

When people ask me what my favourite place in the world is, I always answer: ‘Underwater, at least 10 metres deep.’ If you have to hold your breath for a long time, you go into a kind of trance, it’s an indescribable feeling. This is why I love freediving.

I grew up by the sea in the north of Tunisia, and it was natural for me to see and hear the sea all the time.

This is linked to the question of my childhood heroes: I was always surrounded by strong women, but my biggest heroine is my grandma. Imagine the coolest grandma ever … My grandma is even cooler! She is truly inspiring! She took me on her sailing boat countless times as a child, she’s over 80 and still sailing!
